What’s Been Going On?
It will have been difficult for you not to have noticed the Ford Eco Town proposals.
Arun District Council is holding a public event in the form of a “Select Committee”. Eight Councillors have been appointed along with an Independent Planning Advisor to conduct an examination in public of the Ford Eco Town Proposals. The task they have been given is to ask the following of the Eco Town proposers:
Is development of an ‘Eco-Town’ at Ford (comprising at least 5,000 homes and associated employment, social and community infrastructure) sustainable, viable and deliverable? What long term impacts might such a scheme have on the rest of the district?”
The Select Committee event runs from 27th May to 4th June and will sit from 9.30 to 4.30 each day in The Council Chamber, The Civic Centre, Littlehampton with the exception of the last day Wednesday 4th June which will be at Yapton and Ford Village Hall.
The section dealing with the local economy is on 29th May.
Whatever your views you are welcome to go along. You can keep up to date with the proposals at
www.arun.gov.uk/ecotown where you can also view the proposals.
When Will We See You Again?
We hope to see you at our next quarterly meeting! This takes place on Monday 16th June from 5.00 – 7.00 p.m. at
The White Swan on the A27 just outside Arundel. If you’ve been along before you will know that it’s a great opportunity to meet up with other local businesses and find out what they do, how they can help your business and how you can help them. We usually get anywhere from 40 – 80 businesses (this depends if we are meeting during the football season!). If you haven’t been along why not give it a go – it’s FREE and you might just come across that one customer or supplier that you’ve been searching for. So that we can make sure we’ve enough space just email miriam.nicholls@arun.gov.uk to let me know you will be coming. If you’ve already done that – great – see you there!
Getting To Know You
Shortly after our quarterly meeting our ever popular
Getting To Know You Event takes place. It’s on 9th July at Fontwell Park Racecourse. It’s your chance to bring along examples of what you do, lots of business cards and meet other local businesses that might just want your product or service. Lots of companies have already booked their space because they’ve been before and know what a good event it is. So to book your space or if you just want to know more email miriam.nicholls@arun.gov.uk.
Where’s Miriam?
Lunch time today found me in Bognor Regis. Not something I’d usually report in the newsletter but I was there for a very special event. It’s one year since
Frame of Mind was started by Ian and Teresa Bates. Some of you will know Ian and Teresa and some of their trainees as they won the Arun Business Partnership, Business in the Community Award in 2007. A great crowd gathered not only to celebrate their first year but also to recognise the huge achievements that they have made. Congratulations!
Employers' Open Day
The Business Partnership meeting in December is to be held in
Ford Prison – an unusual venue for us but their offer of hospitality was so convincing we couldn’t refuse! For those of you that can’t wait to get “inside” the prison are holding an Open Day from 10.00 a.m. on 24th June which means that people from the “outside” go “inside” to see what the Skills for Life Team do within the prison and what opportunities there might be for being a part of this. If you want to find out more email zoe.sabine@hmps.gsi.gov.uk
